Chickie, Chickie Chickenwire

During my last three trips to France (over last 15 months), I spied chicken wire cloches in retail stores, at the Paris Maison & Objet gift show and in window displays at patisseries. In one such display, the cloches were down the middle of a long farmhouse table with burning votives underneath and the light down low....WOW. Instantly fell in love!

Fast forward to this past summer where my dad and I sat in the workshop attempting to create our own. After a couple of hours of cut-up hands and snagged clothing, we realized it was a lot harder than it looked to get the wire to match up around the diameter. Our results were so lopsided!

{Chickenwire Cloche Set -3; $69; includes metal zinc base}

Imagine my happy-happy smiles when I could finally find a way to bring them to the States that weren't going to cost an arm and a leg (the first artist whom I found would translate to a triple cost after shipping, customs, etc).

A party planner called recently after a bride saw them in the boutique...said bride is now going to plan her farmhouse wedding theme around them! What fun!
Each set includes a metal base. Now available at "Vintageweave Interiors" under What's New and Green Thumb/Le Jardin pages.

{Note: these have been selling like MAD, but new supplies shipping in weekly. If you have a bulk order,(+15) please call or email so that we may properly meet your event time frame: 323.932.0451 or vintageweave@aol.com}

Beauty from France's Cemeteries

Scattered throughout France are Cemetery Crosses from the late 1800's and early 1900's. These are sold to professional dealers as new cemeteries are designed; these crosses are NOT from plots but from the walkways and buildings. Some come from old church pathways.

Heavy cast iron, these beauties carry their original patina, but often not their original form....much breakage has occurred over the years leaving the most glorious remnants!! We think it creates an even more-perfect decorating solution for little nooks, above doorways, ON doors....well, the possibilities are endless.

Of course, we have many of these Cemetery Crosses still intact at the Vintageweave Interiors boutique; contact us for details if interested. These are professionally shipped by one of our preferred carriers in a custom-made crate, thus no breakage occurs en route to your home. AND so long as you have a professional contractor to hang their heavenly heavy bases for you, you may enjoy them in your garden or outdoor patio. (Each fully intact cross weighs approx 35-85 lbs depending on size.)

A narrow wall in a retro black and red kitchen creates a perfect spot for a black remnant....

My most favorite home for these remnants: on a gate door!! My signature touch for many clients! Affix with appropriate screws on top and bottom so remnant does not move when gate door opens/closes. {TIP: place appropriate paint color on your index finger and dab on the screw to hide the silvery newness of the screw.}

Some new additions at the brick and mortar boutique and online boutique.....

Click on any picture to enlarge and shop for available remnants (inventory comes in frequently) at Vintageweave Interiors or contact us for fully-intact crosses.

"C'est tout que j'aime!!"

Dragging it 3 kilometers and in raging heat, I HAD to have this oh-so-heavy Vintage French Riddling Rack complete with bits of old champagne labels plastered here and there. After having paid far more for a series of them in Northern France for the boutique, I spotted this particular beauty while in the Provence region. It was for a SONG, but only a deal if I could haul it back in time to Paris for my shipper to pack it and have it join my container of other treasures.

I must have lost 11 lbs of pure sweat that hot France day, and the driver was not pleased with me when he pulled up, with having to load this heavy thing in that took 7 tries of re-working all the other goodies I purchased. He was yelling at me, but I kept telling him how much I loved it when he spoke to me in French...even if his words aren't suitable for print!
The things we do for love!
