My jaw doesn't drop too often anymore as I have seen some serious wealth out here in the greater Los Angeles area.
Many of my clients fall into that category.
Often my delivery guys come back with the stories; their eyes wide.
I've seen some of these homes.
I've consulted on some of these homes....
....and I've placed furniture in some of these homes.
Some clients even have multiple homes that add up to this.
I can accept that. I don't live in that world, but I can accept it.
But c'mon people! I had to pick my jaw up off the floor upon seeing this. In Carpenteria, about 3-4 hours north of Los Angeles, 1 hour north of Santa Barbara. It's beautiful and surely the views are one in a million.
But Thirty-Three Million?
For 5 bedrooms plus guesthouse on 2.2 acres. Really. Now.
It's true: California real estate is in its own Universe.
UPDATED: I think it would be wonderful if someone purchased this home and turned it into a retreat....a retreat for perhaps battered women where they could come and enjoy crafting, meditating, cooking...all kinds of classes that nurture the soul.
Or a Cooking school for foodies.....?
Let's hear it: WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH THIS PROPERTY WITH THIS GORGEOUS VIEW???

ha! ok i agree that this is crazy expensive even by los angeles standards!!! Crazy!!

Get out of town! That's just a dumb price for a single family dwelling. It's not like it's a castle in spain or florence, which then i could understand!!

I AM IN THE CATEGORY OF BEING ABLE TO AFFORD MUCH THAT I DESIRE, AND MY FAMILY WANTS FOR NOTHING. WE ARE FORTUNATE AND BLESSED AND WE ARE ACTIVE IN A VARIETY OF CHARITIES, INCLUDING ANNUAL TRIPS TO AFRICA TO BUILD AN ORPHANAGE (my children attend with my husband and I). We work in the glitz and glam of the entertainment industry.
But even so, this is a jaw dropping price by my standards too!! It's a beautiful home and surely beautiful views but just a ridiculous price. I think it would be great if someone could afford to buy it and turn into a B&B and part of proceeds from the guests get devoted to a charity.
My vote is to turn it into a spiritual holistic center. If you had cancer or other invasive disease, you could stay for a week and be taught by experts in holistic medicine, learn healthy cooking with recipes that help heal, and meditation and spiritual classes.
it is a breathtaking view!

yoga retreat.
Honeymoon retreat! If I come to America to get married, I like my family and bridesmaids to all stay in same place together, then get married on cliff by beautiful views! But I get married in Florence but maybe others peoples want to get married here as beautiful views!
Mika, Florence Italy!
3 or 4 day retreat for quilters. Or better yet revolving craft sessions which could change every 2 months. One month quilting classes, next jewelry making, next knitting....i wish I had the money to do this.
I cannot fathom a home anywhere in this world worthy of such a price when millions of families and children barely have enough to eat,or the money to purchase the basics.Clothing, gas, heat or air-conditioning. In a perfect world I would love to see someone with a human heart take that home and make it a homeless shelter for people in need. A place where you can hold out your hand and give these people a lift up and something to believe in again. But again, only in a perfect world would someone look beyond their own needs to do something like that. (I'm on my soapbox now!!!) Don't get me started haha

I would love to see it as a retreat for cancer patients. Great idea!

You know, it's a stunning piece of property, no doubt, although I will still take my humble little home any day (filled w/some favorite Vintageweave treasures of course)...and that's the truth. (angie diehl from Benicia, Ca)
Great suggestions, everyone! I love them all, esp turning it into a rotating crafting/educational center. ALL net proceeds could be donated to a variety (rotating) choice of charities. Well we can all dream of this anyway...
I agree with you, Angie. I see some amazing homes but I love coming back to my beach bungalow and wouldn't trade it for anything! I love that you and others feel this way--the sign of contentment is the road to a happy and joyful life!
Hi Kathy,
I'm almost at a lack for words at this price. I am with Deb, if it was in the Mediterranean, I could try to understand in a castle once owned by Kings and Queens...
I would love to see it be open to anyone who is down on their luck and just needs a little reassuring pat on the back to set their spirit soaring to know someone out there cares to give them a helping hand.
Wow, this is nuts - I'm going back to my cozy little cottage with a nice roof over my head.
