A Waist is Naked Without An Apron

Farmhouse Linen Apron: Soft washed Linen w/tattered edges

I'm crazy for aprons. Mad, out-of-control, amateur-chef frenzy crazy.  I've discovered so many amazing ones on shopping excursions throughout France.  I drag them back to the shop and begin to talk passionately about aprons to anyone who wanders in and even hints at touching them.  (Their fingers brushed against the soft linen; surely they MUST be interested??)  It helps that I love to cook and love beauty to surround me as I'm mixing up something special in the kitchen for loved ones. But it doesn't stop there. Oh, noooo.  We're often found wearing textile delight around the shop...in fact, I encourage it. I've always felt aprons tell an immediate story: A story that you're ready to create and ponder and weave and thrust something magical and loving upon someone.  Cooking, scrapbooking, vignetting (er, it's a word!), hodge podging.....the list really goes on.  N'est ce pas?

New styles from Côté Bastide arriving in late Jan 2013. Plenty of these beauties here shown in stock now at vintageweave.com  and they can all be found under the TEXTILES page.

Côté Bastide Linen Apron in rich dark grey

Once in Provence at a barn estate sale I came across 22 of the same monogrammed, oversized and thick  linen white tea towels....

 ...and I thought with a pleat here and a pleat there and a grosgrain ribbon, extra-long tie...well, they'd make fantastic aprons!  I really love the feel and look of these exclusive to Vintageweave...

Côté Bastide Special Orders

{Orange Scented Linen Water; Eau de linge. $70 for 24oz glass bottle}

You already know we stock a warehouse full of our favorite finds from our favorite atelier...

But did you know you may ALWAYS place a special order? Shipments arrive from Provence monthly, and since we sell to many designers and event planners, (ahem, or fellow shopaholics.....) we often get last-minute large orders that wipe out our available inventory. Or perhaps you're in search of a favorite scent or must-have Côté Bastide tableware? SOLUTION: special order requests to the rescue!

{Côté Bastide Mixing Bowl-Set of 5}

Recent special orders:
*One client loves to fill a large apothecary jar with orange blossom and Lin soaps...did we mention the apothecary jar is 4 feet tall??
That's alotta' soaps we ship!
*Another client's standard 'thank you' gift for her bevy of friends, clients and charity patrons is Amber bubble bath; she continually purchases and stocks a couple dozen bottles at a time.
*And yet another client can't get enough of the heavenly Côté Bastide linen tea towels. So when she got married last year, she wanted one type at each place setting and another trio wrapped to give to each guest. Her special order came in no less than five boxes off that boat from France!

Any scent, any flavor, any size.

You ask. We get (or at least really, really try to).

The latest favorite arrival: Côté Bastide Eau de Linge in heavenly scented Orange Floral. Linen water for ironing and steaming your best linens and cottons. Our antique shams stay dressed in nothing less.

Sigh....as if the scent wasn't amazing enough, can you even stand the bottle?? TO-DIE-FOR FABULOUS!

Happy Accidents

{Cote Bastide Chanvre Exfoliant; 4 oz $22}

At Vintageweave we're exceptionally busy this time of year with all the entertainment awards ceremonies (some televised, some not) happening around town. It's the time of year Angelenos affectionately refer to as "Awards Season". It's fun, crazy and last-minute deadline driven.

Things were especially busy on a recent Thursday and in the rush, I dropped a new shipment in from France: Cote Bastide bath product. Quel horreur!
The casualty was a broken bottle of Cote Bastide Chanvre Exfoliant. I LOVE all things Cote Bastide and have always chatted up my favorite fragrances to customers. These favorites tend to be EARTHY scents such as FIG, AMBRE, ORANGE BLOSSOM, and VANILLA TEA...but I had not yet personally tried the Chanvre Exfoliant.
As I cleaned up the mess I was overtaken by the heavenly scent and wonderful texture. Upon rinsing my hands I was impressed by how easily the granules dissipated and how soft it left my skin. I WAS HOOKED!

THIS EXFOLIANT IS NOW MY NEW ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! Hemp (Chanvre) seeds with an incredible mix of musk, birch and a bit of Lilly of the Valley essence.

I love it so much that we are offering a 100% guarantee. If for any reason you don't fall in love with the scent, send it back for a full refund*. Once items of this nature are opened, by law we can not resell them BUT I can take it home and enjoy it! *{customer can obtain full refund of product cost or obtain exchange at their preference. Customer responsible for any shipping charges.}
Scent also available in bar soap and bath salts with the famous Cote Bastide linen fabric touches.

French Linen, Cote Bastide Style

{Cote Bastide Lin Naturel Tablecloth; $289}

New linens from Cote Bastide are in the house!

As with most Cote Bastide items, our drool bucket runneth over.....this beauty was spotted and the Paris show and I couldn't wait to get my hands on one for my own home. I bought three at the Paris retail store and two clients snapped them up immediately (one went home with me NATURALLY).

Fits a table for 6 or 8 at 200 x 160 cm. In Cote Bastide's signature linen, this washes up beautifully in the cold cycle and line dries. Don't you just love the soft black writing?? All stamped with "100% Lin Naturel" in French, American and Italian.

I'm crazy for the colors of linen, black and red....this designer stamp in red on bottom right is so simply French....details like this make me smile wide.

Before you thought it didn't get any better, offerings coming soon in a to-die-for Apron and lushly-thick linen TEA TOWELS!

This classic Cote Bastide pure linen tea towels {red stripe or blue stripe} is a monthly sellout.

The runner offered in each of the colors is fantastic, but the newest offering is especially OH LA LA: A TIE TAB CURTAIN! Same pure linen. Same Cote Bastide quality textile. (Curtain currently available in only blue stripe).
{CB Proterie Blue Stripe Linen Curtain; $149}

My kitchen is officially in love! A bevy of more love is available at VINTAGEWEAVE.COM

Golden Ticket

We had a fun week creating many Golden Globe-related gift baskets. Each was personalized and tailored to a specific movie depending on what role the recipient played in what movie....whether a hairdresser, agent, casting, producer, or talent.......

A popular theme was starting with a base of our Paris Coffee Lovers Basket............if you LOVE coffee, you will LOVE this selection of amazing Cote Bastide Coffee Candle (oh heaven) and Hediard Ground Coffee and a selection of CD's by Putamaya (one being a collection of songs from well-known coffee bean countries such as Brazil.)
{We were especially thrilled to be able to create a basket which included a pair of tickets to Brazil along with a letter of congratulations on securing a part in a movie soon to start filming in Brazil...fun!}

Hollywood is in the throws of its frenzied awards season.....Bravo for the Cinema!

While we don't have a golden ticket to attend the Globes, we will certainly enjoy watching it from the comfort of our home!

Go see a movie this month! It's a great escape and can release tension or make you think.....

Paris Cote Bastide

One of the beautiful things about my chosen career is that I can pop over to Paris, meet with the most inspiring artisans and craftsmen, write it off, and call it work.........{"Nice work if you can get it, you can get it....}

When in Paris proper, there are several "must stops". One is always, always, always afternoon tea here:

I'm partial to the one in Le Marais, off Rue du Bourg-Tibourg. No matter how short the business trip or how packed the schedule, I always pop in here for a proper spot of tea. This quick buying trip was no exception.

Another must-not-miss for me, is the Paris outpost of Cote Bastide, probably one of my most favorite family of artists and soap creators as we share mutual sensibilities. Of course they take it to a level that makes me swoon!
I love the simplciity of colors reminiscent of my three favorite fabrics: linen, hemp, and burlap. They throw just the right spot of red into the mix, too.

I'm particularly loving their simplistic snow white packaging for the Coton and Lait lines.

All are available now at Vintageweave. Stay tuned for some fun twists I've done with some of their textiles and fashioned them into unique uses for a client's eclectic home....one is cutting and repurposing this grand laundry bag into bathroom curtains...

Passed by this artistic display while walking down Rue Mambourg. Love when soap is stacked...so artistic. so touchable. so inviting.
..............so french.
