A Waist is Naked Without An Apron

Farmhouse Linen Apron: Soft washed Linen w/tattered edges

I'm crazy for aprons. Mad, out-of-control, amateur-chef frenzy crazy.  I've discovered so many amazing ones on shopping excursions throughout France.  I drag them back to the shop and begin to talk passionately about aprons to anyone who wanders in and even hints at touching them.  (Their fingers brushed against the soft linen; surely they MUST be interested??)  It helps that I love to cook and love beauty to surround me as I'm mixing up something special in the kitchen for loved ones. But it doesn't stop there. Oh, noooo.  We're often found wearing textile delight around the shop...in fact, I encourage it. I've always felt aprons tell an immediate story: A story that you're ready to create and ponder and weave and thrust something magical and loving upon someone.  Cooking, scrapbooking, vignetting (er, it's a word!), hodge podging.....the list really goes on.  N'est ce pas?

New styles from Côté Bastide arriving in late Jan 2013. Plenty of these beauties here shown in stock now at vintageweave.com  and they can all be found under the TEXTILES page.

Once in Provence at a barn estate sale I came across 22 of the same monogrammed, oversized and thick  linen white tea towels....

 ...and I thought with a pleat here and a pleat there and a grosgrain ribbon, extra-long tie...well, they'd make fantastic aprons!  I really love the feel and look of these exclusive to Vintageweave...

Duckie Duckie

{French Duck Pellet Sachets}

We are textile NUTS at Vintageweave! Can't control the spending whether drooling over vintage crewel lace in Bath, ENGLAND or antique faded linen in Provence, FRANCE. Fortunately for us, there are many of you out there that share our addiction! {But what an addiction it is!}

Enter these small, yet WOW factor textile bags: Vintage French Duck Pellet Cases.

We have hundreds so some may be fashioned into pillow designs, tablecloths.....but for now, we love them chock full of heavenly Lavender. The faded black markings capture the eye and you'd never know the labor intensive washing (5 washings), sanitizing and pressing. These were discovered in horrid condition and smelled of petro, but we saw past all of that and imagined the beauty beneath. The heavenly, nubby-textile beauty!

French Duck Pellet Sachets measure 12 x 5"; $30 Cream Linen; $35 Natural Linen

French Linen, Cote Bastide Style

{Cote Bastide Lin Naturel Tablecloth; $289}

New linens from Cote Bastide are in the house!

As with most Cote Bastide items, our drool bucket runneth over.....this beauty was spotted and the Paris show and I couldn't wait to get my hands on one for my own home. I bought three at the Paris retail store and two clients snapped them up immediately (one went home with me NATURALLY).

Fits a table for 6 or 8 at 200 x 160 cm. In Cote Bastide's signature linen, this washes up beautifully in the cold cycle and line dries. Don't you just love the soft black writing?? All stamped with "100% Lin Naturel" in French, American and Italian.

I'm crazy for the colors of linen, black and red....this designer stamp in red on bottom right is so simply French....details like this make me smile wide.

Before you thought it didn't get any better, offerings coming soon in a to-die-for Apron and lushly-thick linen TEA TOWELS!

This classic Cote Bastide pure linen tea towels {red stripe or blue stripe} is a monthly sellout.

The runner offered in each of the colors is fantastic, but the newest offering is especially OH LA LA: A TIE TAB CURTAIN! Same pure linen. Same Cote Bastide quality textile. (Curtain currently available in only blue stripe).
{CB Proterie Blue Stripe Linen Curtain; $149}

My kitchen is officially in love! A bevy of more love is available at VINTAGEWEAVE.COM

French Textile Bliss

It's no secret I'm ga-ga crazy for Textiles, and when I happen upon a large roadside sale on the outskirts of Paris, well...my heart is aflutter!

I promise to try and part with as much as these as I can muster...but for now many may very well just live in my kitchen for a wee bit longer! It never gets old looking at their beautiful handiwork....small repairs, minor stains and just the right texture between your thumb and forefingers....ah, a slice of heaven, oui?

Monograms and checks abound...(these three styles shown are $30/ea)

A new favorite from Cote Bastide, bath towels in waffle texture with fringe evoking the old-world textile industry of early 1900's...($90/ea)

The delicate and deliberate monogramming is so delicious! These two shown are of the rarer set and only a few are available...($43/ea these two particular monogram styles)

The darker hemp is always a desired favorite.... ($32/ea)

Pretty in pink, with such delicate motiff...(Tablecloth approx 5x7 $62)

An unbelievably French pattern...I just fell in love with this one. It was sooo pricey but so worth it. Sorry, this 4x6 tablecloth will stay in my home!

With so many grain sacks in, we have started making these fab bed rolls...stuffed with luxurious down feathers...($72/ea)

I love taking French teatowels and using them as interesting "tablecloths" to help set a table...

All are available by emailing or calling us...many up on the website online store soon! vintageweave@aol.com.....323.932.0451....www.vintageweave.com

French Tea Towels

I'm a sucker for vintage tea towels, especially those that hail from France or England in the white and red hues, with a touch of monogramming from the family of years long past who so lovingly used them:

Dried dishes with them....
...... Carried hot pots with them..... Wrapped bread in them...
...as part of their every day lives....

Vintage homespun with red monogramming varieties ABOVE (Style HS2 $66/ea)

Vintage with touches of red and yellow or sometimes green (Style RC3 $25/ea)

Vintage white with uneven monogramming probably sewn by a loving grandmother whose eyes were starting to go (Style WW1 $25/ea)

Burlap with the right touch of red. Newly crafted by our friends at Cote Bastide in Aix en Provence (Style CBBurlap $22/ea)

When combined, a lovely creation is born:

Vintage French tea towel patchwork pillow w/down insert ABOVE($300); 18" square made from vintage French tea towel w/down insert BELOW($80)

French Grain Bags Redux

So we've seen these...

Standard pillows made from Grain Sacks are nice, but these feather&down stuffed beauties just scream COMFORT!

Curl up on the grass with a good book while one of these grain bag pillows rests under your head....

I love this SUPER-SIZED grain sack pillow...great on either side of a daybed for luxury and European chic all at once.

Original embroideray just makes it all the more special, n'est ce pas?
