Duckie Duckie

{French Duck Pellet Sachets}

We are textile NUTS at Vintageweave! Can't control the spending whether drooling over vintage crewel lace in Bath, ENGLAND or antique faded linen in Provence, FRANCE. Fortunately for us, there are many of you out there that share our addiction! {But what an addiction it is!}

Enter these small, yet WOW factor textile bags: Vintage French Duck Pellet Cases.

We have hundreds so some may be fashioned into pillow designs, tablecloths.....but for now, we love them chock full of heavenly Lavender. The faded black markings capture the eye and you'd never know the labor intensive washing (5 washings), sanitizing and pressing. These were discovered in horrid condition and smelled of petro, but we saw past all of that and imagined the beauty beneath. The heavenly, nubby-textile beauty!

French Duck Pellet Sachets measure 12 x 5"; $30 Cream Linen; $35 Natural Linen

Happy Accidents

{Cote Bastide Chanvre Exfoliant; 4 oz $22}

At Vintageweave we're exceptionally busy this time of year with all the entertainment awards ceremonies (some televised, some not) happening around town. It's the time of year Angelenos affectionately refer to as "Awards Season". It's fun, crazy and last-minute deadline driven.

Things were especially busy on a recent Thursday and in the rush, I dropped a new shipment in from France: Cote Bastide bath product. Quel horreur!
The casualty was a broken bottle of Cote Bastide Chanvre Exfoliant. I LOVE all things Cote Bastide and have always chatted up my favorite fragrances to customers. These favorites tend to be EARTHY scents such as FIG, AMBRE, ORANGE BLOSSOM, and VANILLA TEA...but I had not yet personally tried the Chanvre Exfoliant.
As I cleaned up the mess I was overtaken by the heavenly scent and wonderful texture. Upon rinsing my hands I was impressed by how easily the granules dissipated and how soft it left my skin. I WAS HOOKED!

THIS EXFOLIANT IS NOW MY NEW ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! Hemp (Chanvre) seeds with an incredible mix of musk, birch and a bit of Lilly of the Valley essence.

I love it so much that we are offering a 100% guarantee. If for any reason you don't fall in love with the scent, send it back for a full refund*. Once items of this nature are opened, by law we can not resell them BUT I can take it home and enjoy it! *{customer can obtain full refund of product cost or obtain exchange at their preference. Customer responsible for any shipping charges.}
Scent also available in bar soap and bath salts with the famous Cote Bastide linen fabric touches.

When Pictures Lie...

Yeah, Right.

When EVER have you had a delivery boy bring you a pizza in a box that looked like this???!

The Europeans. Oh, how they tease...
(photo: Cote Sud magazine)

One of my favorite gatherings to host at my home is a Pizza Party....

(Vintageweave's Bon Appetite Silverware Sleeves available in any language. Hemp-fully machine washable!)

....friends, who love cooking as much as I do, gather at my house with an uncooked pizza concoction in tow and their favorite bottles. These get cooked on the grill, which is my next most favorite way to eat pizza outside of a wood burning fire pit. If raining (ok, this is California so that is never planned for, but it DID happen once!!), we'll move the party indoors but still utilize the grill.
I romanticize of a time when it's a tropical warm storm and we sit outside under shelter amongst plenty of candles and wine bottles!
If the party heads into the night, we always remain outside but just add blankets to the mix. Cigars get lit and the occasional toasted marshmallow. I always layer a mixture of vintage fabrics-nothing fancy, and I never worry over tomato sauce or red wine. Whatever BIZ doesn't perform a miracle on will just become like a face wrinkle: a symbol of laughing and fond memories with friends.
Pellegrino and earthy red wines are always a'flowin, and usually in antique or depression glass. (Shown: part of my collection of Fostoria American depression glass pattern.) At the moment I'm particularly liking this table red: Abadia Retuerta - Sardon De Duero 2003, a Spanish Seleccion Especial red with undertones of vanilla and fig.)

Hemp Picnic Party

About 19 months ago we made up a large custom order for a client ...
30" square hemp pillows w/flange trim & luxurious down feather inserts.
Full size hemp feather bed coverlet to be used as a comfy picnic blanket.
We were told the items were being used for a photo shoot.
We made them.
They paid.
We never heard another word.
Until this week.....

We were given a tip that our items were used in this magazine shoot for our favorite magazine, GARDEN DESIGNS. We weren't credited but no matter as she paid the entire enchilada for them so she need not credit us. We're just tickled pink at the use!

Doesn't this make you want to go on a picnic???!

Hemp Hearts

We're always looking for unique add-ins for our client gift baskets. When you have top entertainment studios on your client list, you have to be constantly on the lookout for fillers....some studios order up to an average of 50 baskets every month (sometimes less and sometimes more---LOTS more!) and every now and then the recipients overlap so finding unique french smalls is a full time job! And since the recipients are often some serious movers and shakers in the Industry, one can appreciate the emphasis is on
unique!

One of our best designers for Vintageweave (and one of our dearest and most favorite friends), Trish W., helped us recreate several artistically-shaped hearts reminiscent of those we've been loving on our last two buying trips in Paris. We spotted these cotton hearts at the Maison & Objet show last year (see bottom shelf and below) only to learn they were merely props and not available for purchase. Boo Hoo!

Not one to be discouraged for long, we went on a stringent hunt to track down the talented designer, Pia, only to find she does them for gallery showings.... and on the rare occasion she does part with them, they are over 1000 euro each. Ouch!! We really wanted lavender-filled sachets for our clients, and not necessarily wall art, so we begin sketching our perfect version. Enter Trish.....Trish is the most amazing artist EH-VER. I do mean, EH-VER! She took our ideas and our picture samples, etc, etc, and then weaved in her magic touch. We're still in prototype mode, but we think you'll agree the results are fabulous and we're jumping up and down with excitement and anticipation! Look for them soon! {<----Pia's design to left; ours at top of post.}
