Au Revoir Boutique

They call me pinkladymannequin.

Today I leave the comfortable boutique where I have lived as a mascot.  Our visits will end. Memories of unearthing me in an off-beat Paris flea market at 6am in the rain will remain. Green paper has been exchanged for my new adopted family and now I am carried off to add whimsy to my new home..... A home created by the magical mind of Tim Burton and his exceptionally-creative set designer team.
They say I am perfect. They say I have just the right amount of torn, tatter and wear....

...they say my falling and stained body is a muse for the dark, quirky fairytale.

Look for me again, friends, when the visions come alive on screen in 2010. Alice never had THIS wonderland so good!

I *HEART* Julie Louis-Dreyfus

It's FUN Emmy week here in Los Angeles/Hollywood and we've been blessed to be busy, busy arranging gifts and adding the right tweaks here and there at various client's homes.

It's true. I'm human. I PLAY FAVORITES!
One of our most favorite clients:
The gorgeous Julia Louis-Dreyfus

We don't just love her because her set decor, New Adventures of Old Christine, is built around an incredible variety of Vintageweave bits and bobs & specially- design items throughout.......... We don't just love her because she had us gut-wretching laughing during her Emmy-winning run on Seinfield........
.......................  We love her because she's one of the most talented comedic actresses of her time, because she's one of the nicest and humblest people (despite her privileged background-you'd NEVER know), because she makes us LAUGH OUT LOUD in her role as recently-divorced, single-mom CHRISTINE......and because, well, she's a loyal shopper of Vintageweave! What's not to love???!

Frequently ordering these votives by the dozens , Julia is a big fan of all Vintageweave's reproduction Mercury glass as it goes well with the lifestyle of having boys constantly running around the house! (Breaking antique mercury glass would be too hard for the stomach to bear!)

Trivia: On her casual days, she's the ultimate classic dresser and truly has the most PERFECT skin I've ever seen. Her complexion is actually legendary in industry circles.

While we have many clients up for an EMMY tonight and have our fingers crossed for all of them, Julia holds a special place in our hearts because her character, Christine, tickles our funny bone in all the right places!

TEAM JULIA!

Alice, Oh Alice....

Haven't been able to blog much...or rest much for that matter!

It's been beyond busy here at Vintageweave and we're finding that we're having to turn design business away the plate is so full....

Among the many SUPER FUN projects going, we are asking our blogger friends to help if they have in their possession any antique lace that looks like this for a set design for Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland....

Many old and wonderful items are being gathered for the tea party, but ten yards of this lace is really needed quite quickly so email us if you have it stored away some where! As with all set designs, timing is immediate so after the director walk-through on Thursday, August 14, it will no longer be needed....

Filming starts in October (shooting in London and Los Angeles), and this is a project I personally can't wait to see through to fruition as Tim will do wacky and wondrous things to this beloved story I'm sure!
A sweet young Australian will take the coveted role of ALICE, but
Of course it doesn't hurt that this mug will be gracing the role of Mad Hatter...

And I promise to be back to blogging soon with pics and stories of all the wonderful projects!

(A special shout out to Ms Hillary Duff and her lovely Mama for their treat today, and for their enourmous hearts to rescue such needy animals. My niece will be tickled pink. Ms Hillary really is such a doll and neat young woman y'all.)

A film worthy of your SENSES

A really fun part of my job is that I am pulled in to work on some fun set designs.
I adore film sets. It's why I'm a raging movie buff....I just love soaking in the sets..... the cinematography....the costumes.....
And when it's a period film? Well they just leave me sopping up my chin!

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE RELEASE OF THIS MOVIE!

{After the annoying advertisement}, View a peek into a treat for the senses! *

*Vintageweave did NOT play a part in the set of this particular film;
*This reminder of the upcoming film is in part thanks to fly-housebydesign.blogspot. Thanks!

On the set...

Performing a mini makeover inside a trailer for a client who will be using it for an extended film shoot. Cote Bastide softly-scented candles, mercury votives EVERYWHERE, Cote Bastide Seringa Wreath French triple-milled soaps, Bella Notte throws, custom-made antique linen pillows with down feathers, and many other luxurious comforts....(wish I could share actual pictures, but privacy is crucial.) All these luxury items can be purchased at Vintageweave online ....

On a film set, the food is always yummy, especially if there is a pretty well-known headliner then the really good caterers are hired to feed the herd.... This BBQ was so DE-LISH....I'm so ready for another lunch break!!

.....back in a few days....
