Antique Doors Repurposed

It always fascinates me when craftsmen can take a portion of antique wood and marry it to new wood seamlessly........the results are an amazing reproduction to fit all needs. In this case, to house a flat screen television to lift out of a credenza, or hide behind armoire doors.

While antiques are always preferred in my design world, there are often times when a custom made piece is more appropriate to the scale or room feel............we're making two new credenzas to house a 64" and another for a 42" flat screen HD tv's......pics on those when they are finished!

These antique doors will be the front of a newly-designed cabinet at some point....

What's it all about, Alfie??

When I first began the thought of this blog, my staff screamed out "Are you Crazy? Where would you find the time?".
The thought was to create an environment where our clients, customers and friends of Vintageweave could tune in to what we are up to and see new arrivals immediately. I'm constantly asked what I'm working on and my staff is always inundated with questions on where I am when I'm out of the boutique. Further, so many items arrive in the boutique and sell before we get an opportunity to get them up on the website.

It was never meant to be a design tutorial....more of a design inspiration....
....nor a political or personal forum.....I can always begin one of those LATER.....
It doesn't strive to win awards or cause controversy....
Given the opportunity it IS made to make you smile, laugh, drool and dream.
It is purely an extension of the Vintageweave boutique, design business, and website.

As it turns out updating a blog is FAR faster and easier to upload pictures and allows our regulars a solid look at new arrivals. This is a wonderful new advantage for those who aren't local and able to pop in the boutique several times a week (as many requlars do). So much of what we buy is sold prior to ever being loaded on the container (we have an extremely active WISH LIST, which travels with me at all times).

So, with that said....here are the latest and greatest shopping adventures and acquisitions. A particular source I buy from is as nice as nice can be, which always makes the treasure hunting that much more fun! Let us know if anything strikes your fancy.....these will likely never make it to the website....

Once the unpacking of the container is done, I'll be back in a couple of days.....

Chairs, Chairs, the Musical Fruit....

French Chairs in their natural patina, evoke images of the travels and memories they have surely lived. Can you just imagine pulling up these chairs to a table?
"Dinner parties in Burgundy where guests sat laughing and sharing stories of travel, love, politics, and the art of wine making....

Dinner parties in Paris where les femmes wore stately sables and cloche hats and les hommes wore smart suits and patent wing tip shoes...all the while sipping champagne and enjoying perfectly-prepared Flambeed Filet Mignon with a rich Madeira Sauce alongside truffles in champagne, and a side salad of mesclun kissed with a walnut vinaigrette garnished with shaved black truffles." You CAN cook this! Or you can just go here if in Santa Monica, CA, where my dear friend, Josiah, creates culinary magic that gives the best Michelin-rated Parisian restaurant a run for its money. (Speaking of the latter, you WILL need plenty of it, liken to taking out a 2nd on your mortgage-but worth it!) BURP.

Throwing your own dinner party or spaghetti soiree? Chairs are in abundance at Vintageweave with the arrival of our most recent container! We let our favorite guest pull up her favorite chair to the table...
