Grab the Shopping Cart!

{Cart Picture: Wikepedia}

More shopping! More creations from antique items! More antiques! More Fun! Oh....It's just making me giddy! You, too, dear friends?
Let's be drunk with happiness together! Both hands on the Shopping Cart Handle and away we go.....

Made from antique French shutters. There's been a very large one created, now a smaller cabinet fashioned from antique shutters cut to size with the masterful painting of some truly artistic hands who blend it all seamlessly;

Chic Mirror: Vintage French Zinc with a scallop copper detail added---many sizes available. Shown: Tabletop size: $1275. (Sorry about the flash! I had to take a picture before it was loaded on the truck as one of my clients snapped this up before I could share it with all of you.) More being made in this size and in floor sizes. It can be crated and Freight Shipped anywhere in the Continental US.

I'm having trouble getting this one in the cart. Grab one end will ya'?
Reclaimed wood with new stain and fabulous French Zinc top---where Elegance meets Rustic....

Many Vintage French Bottle Dryer Racks are in stock as they stacked in the shopping cart just nicely. As shown and larger sizes only (no small sizes this time); Shown: $675.
Loving the old French beer bottles--great green color! I think displayed as a trio with a yellow daisy would love Summer Fab; Bottles: $22/ea

Know that bar shelf thingy at the bottom of the cart? These slide in nicely there.
It started with antique scroll brackets and zinc. So popular, that the well ran dry for the antique brackets so reproduction brackets were found with similar detailing. Reclaimed Zinc wrapped around wood completes the stunning shelf. 4, 6 and 8 foot increments. These will soon be on the website, but you may custom order yours now by emailing or calling us. Shown: 6 foot $500.

Ok this one will just flatten the cart, but I love it so....perfect on a pea gravel patio, don't you agree?

Email us (vintageweave@aol.com) with further inquires-or leave a comment here and we'll try to accommodate all custom orders, too!

Oh heavenly Zinc!

We're crazy about zinc! It's non corrosive, it's rather pliable, can be written and re-written on, and the color is oh, so French. Our fascination first began with miniature zinc pitch pots from the early 1920's, which you can still see today lining the garden shed walls and under window sills in the South of France. When discovering these old beauties, we often have to dig through muddy crates and dirty boxes.
This is because they were originally seen as economical starter pots and often tossed in the barn or off to a pile when their purpose was spent. But the more digging we have to do the happier we are....the thirll of the hunt! Today, these bent and sometimes crooked pots are a wonderful sight to the eyes, their imperfections offering a glimpse into their history and their wonderfully-imagined travels. Since they won't rust or deteriorate, it's only logical that garden ornaments were quickly fashioned from this material. Today's beautiful antique discoveries hail from France and England where the damp and wet gardens would not wreak havoc on these gems.

European cities saw the introduction of zinc around the 16th Century, but France began its love affair in the late 1800's (1850-1880). What you typically see now in the surviving antiques, (pots and weather vanes) is the version that came about in the early 1900's, around 1915-1920, when the technology on zinc mining and production drastically changed, making it more affordable and more accessible. Lucky us!

Today's zinc creations have come a long way, baby: A chic chalkboard in today's modern world evokes the calming colors of a French village of yesteryear. And the uses go on and on! Add a burlap strap and we're swooning...

Zinc and bulap tags--magnifique!

and add a tag to your garden lunch table and you've got oh-la-la farmhouse chic! Friends in Southern France are amazing artists and have created these beauties and so much more....coming soon on our next container (due in late June) are new varieties of garden tags and XL zinc chalkboards!
